About the company

Trained at ENSATT (Rue Blanche), Julien Cottereau began his career strongly in 1993, starring in Erik Zonca's Éternelles, a role for which he received the award for best male performance at the Brest European Short Film Festival.

That same year, he joined Cirque du Soleil as a clown-mime in Saltimbanco, touring stages across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas, performing over 1,500 shows. In 2002, he joined Clowns Without Borders, bringing shows to conflict zones and working with communities affected by war and exclusion.

His career combines theater, film, and stage creation. He has worked with directors such as Solveig Anspach and has received international acclaim for his work as a performer. In 2005, he created his first solo show, Imagine-toi, for which he won the Molière Award for Best Newcomer, among other accolades, and embarked on a successful international tour.

Over the years, he has continued to develop his own unique language that fuses mime, clowning, theater, and music, with creations such as Lune Air, Le Petit Prince, and Con Amore. His work has graced stages around the world, establishing him as one of the most singular figures on the contemporary scene.

SHOWS

aaAhh BIBI
Duration
70 MINUTES
All Audiences

With or without a red nose, alone or accompanied, Julien Cottereau unfolds a silent, delirious, and imaginative ballet. Through his character Bibi, he invites us to discover an idealistic and absurd circus, where eccentric artists, fearful acrobats, lovelorn tightrope walkers, and untamed animals parade.

A wordless universe that transports us to another place: where humor becomes resistance, where emotion and laughter go hand in hand, and where the impossible finds its own order. Time, space, and logic become elastic, to the rhythm of an overflowing imagination.

With BIBI, everything is possible: a world without visible borders, where fantasy replaces matter and poetry takes shape before our eyes.

Clown, mime and sound creator, Julien Cottereau —an artist linked to Cirque du Soleil and winner of the Molière Award for Male Theatrical Revelation for Imagine-toi— presents with aaAhh BIBI an extraordinary new story, built solely with gestures, sounds and emotion.
