Julien Cotterau ist der Gründer und Schauspieler der Compagnie de la Liberté. Nach seinem Abschluss an der Nationalen Schule für Theaterkünste und -techniken (ENSATT) im Jahr 1993 schenkte ihm Erik Zonca sein Vertrauen und besetzte ihn mit der Hauptrolle in seinem mittellangen Film Eternelles (Grand Prix Clermont-Ferrand 1993). Für diese Rolle erhielt er den Preis für den besten Darsteller beim Europäischen Kurzfilmfestival in Brest. 2002 schloss sich Julien Cottereau dem Verein Clowns-Sans-Frontières an und kreierte Shows in der ganzen Welt (Palästina, Afghanistan, Sudan, Kongo, Moldawien, Westjordanland) in Flüchtlingslagern, für Kinder, die Opfer von Krieg, Armut und Ausgrenzung sind. Seine berufliche Laufbahn ist sehr breit gefächert. Kürzlich wurde er ausgewählt, Frankreich und die Tradition der Pantomime bei der von der UNESCO organisierten Gala zum Internationalen Theatertag am 27. März in Fhang-Zhang (China) zu vertreten.
