José Luis Redondo, who studied Physical Education and Sports Science, specialised in circus arts and clowning in Madrid (Carampa) and Buenos Aires (Circo Criollo), where he founded the company La Mano Jueves.
He has performed at venues such as the Teatro Circo Price and with companies including El Circo de los Horrores and Cruzando el Charco. He currently combines his work with these companies with his solo show “Ricky, the tennis coach”, a character with a distinct personality who stands out for his humour, physicality and connection with the audience.
Ricky was a tennis star in the 1980s… until an unfortunate doping test brought his career to an end. Now, in the throes of a midlife crisis, he is trying to recapture his former glory by taking to the streets as an eccentric tennis coach.
A dynamic, interactive clown show that combines humour, improvisation and circus skills (juggling, balancing acts, acrobatics) to win over the audience… though it doesn’t always succeed.
A light-hearted, relatable and deeply human take on failure, ego and second chances.
